TELUK INTAN: Umno said it will not pressure the government to dissolve the Parliament soon to make way for the 15th General Election (GE15) if Covid-19 cases continue to surge.
The party’s election director for the GE15, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said in such a situation, the party will have to look at the matter rationally and that now is not the right time to hold GE15.
“Umno leaders are not brainless. But many people accused the party of demanding for the general election to be held immediately, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. We know about this.
“Don’t simply accuse us. I am very angry when people keep saying that Umno loves to play politics. That is not true.
“We set August as the month to end (our) cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and hope that Parliament will be dissolved by then.
“But if the number of Covid-19 cases continue to rise, do you think it (GE15) will be allowed?
